Plaid, Pencil Skirts, and Pregnancy

H&M shirt.  Asos Maternity skirt.  Boutique 9 oxfords.
Vivi Dot ring.  Bracelets: Ann Taylor, H&M, Nordstrom.

Oh hello, baby belly.  Thanks for helping me accessorize this outfit today.
And also, thanks Asos Maternity for your cute clothes and free shipping.
You make a pregnant girl feel stylishly sassy again.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to say this doubles as a dance outfit.  Simply remove belt, stretchy skirt, and oxfords, add stretchy shorts and jazz shoes, and voila!  Time for rehearsal.

If It Were Up To Me...

...I wouldn't leave my house today.  I'd take my leggings and oversized shirts and plant myself in front of the fire with magazines and a pot of tea.

But alas, it is Wednesday, not Sunday.

Luckily this ensemble doubles as a dance outfit (just remove the jewelry and some layers), so at least I don't have to change before making my way to the dance studio.
Score one for me.

American Eagle purple striped shirt.  H&M black striped shirt.
Lululemon leggings.  Sweater vest: Target.  Boots: ModCloth.

Tap Shorts

Top:  Urban Outfitters.  Shorts and jacket: Nordstrom.
Lucky Penny bag.  Sofft heels.

So I've been working on choreographing a dance for our performing company with my dance partner-in-crime. (Which is way more fun than making up dances solo, fyi.)
The piece has that retro Broadway flair to it with some old-school tap styling mixed in.

And there you have it- the inspiration for this outfit.  Tap shorts, pearls, and an art-deco patterned top.
Best part: I wore it straight to dance class.

Well, sans heels.
and pearls.
but close enough.

Burnt Orange Corduroy. Yes.

Gap skirt.  J.Crew belt.  Seychells boots.  H&M scarf.
Top: Nordstrom.

I guess I'm lucky that I get so excited pulling out my old seasonal clothes.  It's the same thrill I have after a little shopping excursion, except... FREE!  Hooray for that.

This skirt is a really old one (like 5 years?), as are the boots, which are my very favorite.  Technically they are brown leather, but there is an ever-so-slight purple tint to them which makes them compliment soooo many colors, including black.  Honestly though, I'm not sure how many more seasons I'll get to wear these.  They are very well loved and pretty scuffy around the toes.

Oh, and I almost forgot!  This is a dance outfit in disguise.  Yup, there's a leotard under the skirt and top.  After running errands in this the other day, I went straight to the studio, threw on some tights and a pretty pretty ballet skirt, and was ready to seize the day.  Ballet-style, of course.

The Final Week of Dance Class

So in honor of the last dance classes of the season, I thought I'd post some actual dance clothes pictures that go along with the errand-running version that you usually see.  Next week:  our big end-of-the-year, all-studio concert!  oh boy.

But hey you, don't get too used to these pictures of me posing in a leotard and pointe shoes.  It's funny, I don't have any problems dressing myself up in crazy combos of prints and shapes and posting for all to see on the ol' internet.  But me as a dancer... I don't know, hits reeeal close to home.  So no judging, got it?
Cardigan and necklace:  Anthro.  Tweed shorts:  F21.
H&M plaid shirt.  Soda boat shoes.
Lululemon Athletica shorts.

*For my dance-partner in crime:  That first pose is for you.  Yeah, you know it.

The Dance Class Version

This is another version of what I wore Friday.  We had a quick rehearsal in the afternoon, so I replaced the striped shirt  I was wearing earlier with a basic grey tank, substituted a scarf for the necklace, and had some leggings stashed in my bag to throw on when I got to the studio.  Voila.  Dance outfit.

A Little Rosy, A Bit Lacy

Lace top: Urban Outfitters.  Jacket: Forever 21.  Bag: ModCloth
Lululemon halter top.  Gap menswear trousers.  J.Crew belt.
Miss Albright heels.
Here's another dance outfit in disguise-
Under the pretty lacy shirt is a Lululemon Athletica black halter top.  If you haven't checked out this fabulous line of yoga and athletic wear you should.  It's high quality and built to last.

And no one's even paying me to say these nice things.
Promise.  Their stuff is just good.

There's also some Lululemon shorts and black dance tights under the roomy pants.  So now I'm ready to play both the part of a smartly-dressed choreographer and active dancer in a long tech rehearsal.  And I mean l o n g.

Layers, Layers, and More Layers

Floral Print cardigan: Anthro.  Jacket: Urban Outfitters
True Religion Jeans. Toms Wedges.
Lucky Penny Bag.
Spring here can be so beautiful when the sun is out, but still so cold.  For example, today's high: 56 degrees.
Dumb, totally dumb.
Soooo....
layers it is, and lots of them.  Included in layers:  Coral ballet sweater for an evening dance class.  Super duper.

In The Garden

Tank: Anthropologie.  Pant: H&M.  Jacket: Urban Outfitters.
Toms wedges.  R&Y Augousti oversized clutch.

Confession. Sometimes I pretend I'm in an Anthropologie catalog.  Is there something wrong with that? I know, it's really dorky. And super embarrassing.

Well great, now that everyone knows how cool I am (or at least my six followers, thanks you guys!), let's share some more things: I also have this dream of living in one of their stores.  Just think about it for a minute: it always smells so nice, there's all sorts of nooks and crannies to explore, at least one spectacular bed is available to sleep in, and who doesn't want all those nifty kitchen things? Um, and lets not forget, oh, all the fabulous clothes that would be at my disposal.

One more secret:  those pants, yep, they're stretchy dance pants.  And there's a black tank hidden somewhere under there too.  Ready to dance, but no one needs to know.

Presto Chango

Sweater and Tee: Nordstrom. Pant: Anthro. Lululemon althetic bag.
Taryn Rose flats. Vividot Fawn Watch Necklace.
Modcloth earrings and headband.

Ok, the great thing about this ensemble is that it's a dance outfit in disguise (hence the Lulu bag).  Yep, I'm a dancer / dance teacher and have to spend most of my time in stretchy black clothes.  And I get tired of it.  So hidden underneath these layers is a black leotard and tights, and when I get to the studio all I have to do is replace the cargo pants with some black shorts, and I'm ready to go.  Awesome.  Now I can run errands/ look like a normal person before I actually begin rockin' out. Or something like that.
