Some Me Time

Hiya friends,

So I have decided to take a short "end-of-summer" hiatus and focus on some much-neglected things in my life.

Lesson plans-  here I come!  You better watch out.
I'm about to get so organized and inspired it's gonna knock my students' socks off.  Or ballet slippers.  Whatever.

I'll see everyone after Labor Day.  Hopefully with some really magical, fall-inspired outfits.

Stay awesome, internet.
love, stacie.

Oh hello!

Wowza.
It's been quite difficult getting into the swing of things after my break.  And it doesn't help that I've been working lots this week, and really had no desire to put on anything other than jammies when I got home.

But here I am.
Just in time for another weekend.  Well, almost.

I missed you all, friends!  Can't wait to see what you've been wearing while I was away :)

Blouse: Anthro.  Shorts: Old Navy.  Bag: Gap.
Tory Burch sandals.  Stella & Dot gold cuff.
Vivi Dot button ring.

The Flaw in My Plan...

So I had this great outfit planned out for today, ready to start the week after vacay all fresh and exciting.

Then I remembered I told the Husband he could take the camera on his Canadian fishing trip this weekend.  And he doesn't get back till tomorrow.  Shoot.

Well, the good news: on go the sweats!  ahh that's nice.

And instead I'll share with you the, ahem, whole two photos I took on my trip.  Enjoy.

This is what I did the majority of my time last week.  Jealous?  I would like to go back now please.

Hey Mom!  That's you over there floating away on the right.  You're so famous.

We did remove ourselves from the beach a few times and took to the hills where several wineries overlook beautiful Lake Chelan.

And there you have it.  My two pictures commemorating our trip.  I should be a professional iPhone photographer.

Alright, but I'm not quite done with all my iPhotos yet.  Some lovely things awaited my on my return home...

I was surprised by some blooms on the bulbs I planted this spring.  That was a fun welcome home.

Also discovered the yellow flowers pictured below.

They were growing out of my driveway.
Because I'm super classy.

So I did what any sensible gardener would do.
I cut them.
And put them in my kitchen.
Perfect.

And finally, was pretty excited to find this bad boy waiting for me at my front door.
Ah September Vogue.
Can't wait to dive in.

Well that's it for my little photo montage.
Maybe, someday soon, I'll post outfits again.
I hope so.  Sweatpants are pretty boring.

Naughty Monkey wedges.

Stella & Dot turquoise ring.  Lace blouse: UO.

As I am writing this suitcases are being zipped, the house secured shut, and the car loaded up.
Oh man. I'm looking at a week of doing little more than lay out by a big ol' lake.  And I can't wait.

So I hope everyone has a fantabulous week and I'll see you on the flip side of my lovely little getaway.  Hopefully much more tan than when I left.

Black Dress: Take 3

Lulu*s dress. Vivi Dot Fleur De Lis Watch Necklace.
H&M bracelets.  Unlisted bag. Shellys sandals.

Why hello!
Here I am again wearing the dress I swore I'd remix a million times this summer.
As you can see, I have not quite hit that goal.  But I'm cool with that.

To recap, here is the first take.
And this is the second go-around.

Today some more layers were added.  And some stripyness.  (I think I just made that word up.)  And some orange.  And some white.  Oh and grey too.  In case you can't tell from looking at my pictures yourself.  You're welcome.

Is it Friday yet?

Mix Those Prints

Old Navy top.  Gap skirt.  Vintage scarf.
ModCloth clutch and heels.
Pattern Mixing | Everybody, Everywear

I really wish there was an awesome, specific, 'ah-ha' story I could share with you when I realized it was ok to mix and match prints together.

But I don't have one.  Sorry.  So I'll generalize:

there was a moment. probably in my bedroom. probably standing in front of my mirror. probably with some crazy-craze combination of prints or patterns on. and I probably was wondering if I could actually wear whatever outfit it was into the real world.

And then a lightbulb goes off in my head-

a.) um, I can buy dresses or tops or whatever with not-necessarily-matching-prints on them.
b.) I've seen such things in real live stores.
c.) heck, I usually covet said items and want to take them home with me.
d.) so why can't I create them out of the separates that I already own?

But in all honesty, I don't know when I started rationalizing the mixing of prints.  But boy, I'm sure glad I did.
Because prints are fun.  And interesting. And you have to be sorta clever to make the outfit work together.
Kinda like a clothing collage.  And who doesn't love collages?

Monday's Mix: Well, almost.

 Saturday's sundress.  Wednesday's shorts.  Friday's sandals.

Alright, you got me.  I added a key element to this outfit that was not originally worn last week.
But you know what?  I make the rules.  So I can break the rules.

Ha. Take that, black-and-straw hat.
You're lucky you're so cute and can get away with this kind of stuff.
Other hats may not have been so lucky.

and we have...

Black and Blue

Audrey 3+1 dress.  F21 sandals.

Who says you can't wear black and navy together?
Not me, that's for sure.

Not to jinx it or anything, but I think summer has finally arrived in Seattle.
Great.  Perfect.
Nice timing Mr Sunshine.  Ummm, where were you the whole month of July?
