First Romp of the Year

Grey striped cardigan:  F21.  Romper:  Target.
H&M scarf and wedges.  Ollipop silver and gold ring.
Vivi Dot Paisley Foliage Sutro Park Neckace and button ring.

I went against my better judgement when I put this romper on.  It's my legs.  They're just so darn white and... pasty even?
But heck with it, I say.  Hey, pale skin used to be preferred and even sought after by the rich and famous at one point in history.  True, it was Marie Antoinette's decollete, not legs, that was being flaunted.  But whatever.
Maybe one day the sun will come out long enough for me to get some color.  But I won't hold my breath or anything like that.

One More Go-Around before Laundry Day

Tuesday's lace shirt.  Wednesday's wedges.
Thursday's yellow silk shirt and orange bracelet.
Friday's jeggings, orange necklace, and gold bracelet.

Sooo, every single piece of this ensemble was already worn last week.
No, I'm not dirty and disgusting. Just being resourceful before I throw all of these separates into the laundry hamper.
It's like my own little clothing-remix game:  how can I use all these not-yet-dirty-things-that-i-don't-want-to-put-back-in-my-closet and create a new outfit?

Well, this is what I came up with.  Ta-daaaa!  Hope everyone's having a lovely Monday holiday.  Back to the grind tomorrow, right?  Boo.

Tag! What's In Your Bag?

So, here I am partaking in my first game of Internet Tag, thanks to Baby Budget Blog.

The game:  Once tagged by a fellow blogger, you must reveal the items you carry around with you in your bag.

Shoot, I'm so new to this whole blogging thing, I better play by the rules.
So here's my pretty uneventful bag of goodies....

First off, lets just all collectively make fun of how many bracelets I have in my bag.  I spy 3.  Hmm, wonder why I'm carrying all these around.  I guess you just never know when a quick accessory change is needed.

Second, do you spy my new iPhone?  (hint: it has cherries on it).  I am in love with this thing and am slightly addicted to it.  I mean, how have I lived this long without checking everyone's Facebook status every 10 minutes?  Ok, more like 5 minutes.

I also see 3 different lipstick colors (Clinique, Bobbi Brown), face moisturizer (Hope In a Jar), a protective sock for the iPhone (hey, it can get cold in my bag), Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses (and case), a sample of my new favorite perfume (Si Lolita), and headphones with built-in hands-free mic (safety first).  Other necessities: cookies n' cream flavored hard candy, cinnamon gum (yum, tastes like hot tamales), one bobby pin, a nasty, hair-coated elastic band (I'm gross), and finally, my owl keychain.

Oh yeah, there's also my big orange wallet (not sure of the brand), and the cute little froggy coin purse where I stash girly supplies.

The bag is my big, shiny green Big Buddha purse.  I love the seersucker lining, perfect for spring (thanks for the great b-day present, Friend!)  You can see me carrying it here, here, and here.

Well now, I have a lot more crap in my purse than I thought.  Hmm, the things you learn about yourself through a harmless game of tag.

And now, (drumroll please)...
tag!
...you're it ;)

Thanks Miss Molly!

My friend Molly, the gal behind Vivi Dot and the one who convinced me to start blogging in the first place, just did a sweet feature about me!  Click her Vivi Dot button on the right to hop on over to her blog and website.  She is an amazing lady and is so so creative.

Here's some of her button jewelry I've been wearing around the blog...

Her fabulous watch necklaces, rings, polaroid necklaces, earrings, and so much more can be viewed at her store.  You should check her out, I love her stuff!

Umm, Jeggings?

Jacket: Urban Outfitters.  Dress:  ModCloth.
Jeggings and orange necklace: Target.  Green necklace: Anthro.
H&M cage sandals.  Big Buddha bag.

These are my $10 Target Jeggings.
I feel like I could stop right there.  Done.  Enough said.

Except that I won't.  Instead I'll share with you just how skeptical of the whole "jeggings" thing I was when they first started making their way into stores not that long ago.
Um, excuse me, leggings that look like jeans? Fake pockets included?  And elastic waistbands?
Yeah right. No thanks.

And now look at me.  I pull these pants out of my closet and think: Thank you, elastic waistband.  I love you.  You're my best friend.

There's probably a lesson here.  Something about how you should never laugh at fashion trends, because sooner or later, you'll hop on board with everyone else and never look back.  Ok that seems like a lie.  I'll probably look back in 5-10 years and be like, "what was I thinking?"

But then again, by that time, jeggings could be making a comeback.  You just never know.  Look at the Flared Jean.  It's partying again like it's 1999.  Or maybe more like 1979.

Yello! How Are You?

Silk top, Skirt, Seychelles heels, and Lucky Penny bag:
Anthropologie.
Jacket: ModCloth.  H&M hair barrette.  J.Crew belt.

I would like to make a disclaimer that I am wearing nude lace tights with this outfit.  They didn't really show up in the photos, and instead it looks like I may have some strange mottled skin disease on my legs.

Great, now that we've cleared that up, I don't know if you noticed from the caption that pretty much this whole ensemble is from Anthropologie.  A little embarrassing.

Have you caught on yet that it's my favorite store?  To my credit, however, I rarely buy things at full price.  I could probably count the number of times I have gotten items NOT on sale.  It's 3.  Okay, maybe a little more than that.  But you get the idea.

50's Housewife By Day...

Dress: ModCloth.  Apron: Anthro.  Report wedges.
Vivi Dot button earrings.

Welcome to my kitchen.  The cabinet color was chosen (and laboriously painted) by yours truly.  I am a firm believer that all mid-century houses should have mint green in them somewhere.

As for my clothes, yes, I've been known to do my chores in a dress.  That's what they made aprons for.  And I sort of have this thing for aprons.  They're just so dang practical.

I love this dress because Husband picked it out all by himself last year for my b-day.  And it matches my house so well, which makes me happy.  Every girl should have a least one dress that coordinates with her dwelling place, am I wrong?
Oh right, that and a sparkly headband.

A Little Rosy, A Bit Lacy

Lace top: Urban Outfitters.  Jacket: Forever 21.  Bag: ModCloth
Lululemon halter top.  Gap menswear trousers.  J.Crew belt.
Miss Albright heels.
Here's another dance outfit in disguise-
Under the pretty lacy shirt is a Lululemon Athletica black halter top.  If you haven't checked out this fabulous line of yoga and athletic wear you should.  It's high quality and built to last.

And no one's even paying me to say these nice things.
Promise.  Their stuff is just good.

There's also some Lululemon shorts and black dance tights under the roomy pants.  So now I'm ready to play both the part of a smartly-dressed choreographer and active dancer in a long tech rehearsal.  And I mean l o n g.
